Gross Fixed Capital Formation as a percentage of GDP edged slightly higher in the 2nd quarter of 2022 to 14.4 percent from 14.3 percent the previous quarter. Against a GDP contraction of 0.7 percent, GFCF increased by 0.5 percent in the current quarter, supported by a 0.8 percent increase in private sector investment. Investment in construction (including residential, non-residential and construction works) slipped to 4.9 percent of GDP and contributed 34.1 percent to total GFCF. Overall investment in construction fell for the 6th consecutive quarter, down 2.4 percent q-q (constant prices seasonally adjusted) in Q2.
