Public Sector Capital Expenditure on new construction works 2020

Expenditure on new construction by the public sector fell 18 percent y-y in nominal terms in 2020 to R116.4bn. This dataset includes expenditure for national, provincial, municipal, extra-budgetary and public corporations from 2014 to 2020. Details are also included within each of these entities for specific departments, or municipalities. This is regarded as one of the most accurate datasets in terms of public sector expenditure on construction as it excludes spending on plant, machinery and equipment. 2021 data will be released in October and may include revisions to 2020.
