Stats SA’s rebased regional GDP data, which moves the base year from 2015 to 2022, has redrawn the provincial picture. South Africa’s 2024 GDP was revised up by R352bn (+4.8%) to R7.70 trillion, and construction value added rose by R10.6bn (+6.6%) to R170bn. The Northern Cape’s economy is now estimated to be 26% larger than first reported.
