Civil tender activity in South Africa gained modest ground in August 2025, with estimated values rising 5% y-y to R6.9 billion, though down from July’s R8.2 billion. Gauteng led the tender pipeline, supported by growth in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, while several other provinces recorded declines. Despite the improvement, cumulative tender values for the first eight months remain 20% lower y-y, underscoring continued market weakness. Awards activity, which had surged earlier in the year, fell sharply in August to just over R3 billion, 54% lower y-y, although Gauteng again accounted for the largest share.
