NEW - Provincial Public Sector Residential Construction Activity (Units): 2013Q1 - 2023Q2
This time-series dataset includes provincial public sector projects out to tender, awarded, postponed, cancelled and at early warning, with a focus on public sector residential contracts in terms of the number of units involved. The objective of this dataset is purely for strategic planning purposes, and since this is not a lead service in terms of tenders, please use the Databuild Reference number included in the dataset for more information on a particular project. This dataset will be updated on a quarterly basis.
Public sector residential activity picked up during the first six months of 2023, although coming off a very low base. The number of units awarded increased to 5 781, or 202%, with over 6 000 units out to tender during the same period, also showing a two-fold increase compared to the same period in 2022. An estimated 13 000 units were published at early warning stage, a significant on a year on year basis. Awards were particularly poor in 2022 however, as the number of units awarded, fell from 14 000 in 2021 to just 6200. Tender activity however picked up from 6300 units out to tender to 10 217 during the same period.
