Gross Fixed Capital Formation as a percentage of GDP edged slightly higher in the 1st quarter of 2022 to 14.3 percent from 14.0 percent the previous quarter. Against a GDP growth of 1.9 percent, GFCF increased by 3.6 percent in the current quarter. Investment in construction (including residential, non-residential and construction works) slipped to 5.0 percent of GDP and contributed 35 percent to total GFCF. Overall investment in construction fell for the 5th consecutive quarter, down 0.8 percent q-q (constant prices seasonally adjusted) in Q1, and was one of only two sectors that reported negative growth for the quarter.
