Construction Material Price Indices January 2015 - June 2024

The composite construction material price index continues to surpass consumer inflation, after briefly falling below the CPI between April 2023 and July 2023. Seventeen percent of the materials monitored increased by more than 10 percent on average during the first six months of 2024 (including materials related to road resealing and refurbishment, electric motors and transformers, structural steel and mining machinery), while core building materials reflect demand pressure.

Plant equipment, structural and reinforcing steel, ceiling boards and pre-mix asphalt added upward pressure to materials in June 2024.
