South Africa’s construction sector was one of only three industries to record job growth in the third quarter of 2025, adding 131 000 jobs q-q, marking a notable short-term recovery amid subdued economic conditions. The expansion was supported by rising provincial infrastructure expenditure following the start of the 2025/26 financial year, stronger local government activity, and renewed informal-sector momentum.
