Public Building Tenders Continue to Rebound From a Low Base

The estimated value of public-sector building tenders increased for the 5th consecutive month in November 2025, with another robust increase, albeit coming off a low base in 2024 given the slowdown post-election. Limpopo and Kwazulu Natal showed the strongest increase in November, against the Western Cape where tender values were weaker by comparison.  This brings the overall nominal increase for the eleven month period in 2025 to 9 percent y-y, with Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal in the lead in terms of growth, and Kwazulu Natal at the highest estimated value, exceeding R4bn. Tender values of between R2bn and R3bn were recorded in Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Western Cape.
