Mining Production of Building Materials January 2025

Dateset: 1992 - January 2025

Mining production of Building Materials increased by less than 1 percent during 2024, after a weaker first half of 2024 turned more positive by the 3rd quarter. Moderate growth continued and increased by just under 2 percent y-y in January 2025. Production levels generally slow during December and January periods, and if the current momentum is sustained production levels may increase further in the first quarter of 2025. Private sector building demand is slowly turning more positive, but current activity in the building sector remains muted. Civil construction showed a more robust increase during the first half of 2024 based on tender values, but slowed post-election. SANRAL approved several multi billion rand road projects in January, that can add more support to the mining of building materials.
