Load Shedding and Electricity Availability September 2023

Update of monthly loadshedding statistics and electricity available for distribution by Eskom and other (private) producers.

Loadshedding increased by 54 percent m-m in September 2023, while electricity available for distribution by Eskom declined by 2.8 percent m-m to 15 376 GWh, electricity distributed by other producers increased by 7.2 percent m-m to 2 604 GWh. The contribution by private producers to total electricity distributed, has increased to 14.5 percent in August 2023, and an average of 13.8 percent in the first eight months of 2023.
