Composite CRMS index gains 9 percent in November 2023, following three consecutive months of losses

The composite CRMS index (including market capitalisation values of contractors, suppliers, retailers, selected residential and non-residential property funds) gained 9.3% m-m in November 2023, following a 6.4% loss in October. On average market cap values lost  6.3% in the first two months of Q4, following a moderate 1.3% increase in Q3. On a year on year basis the composite market cap values have been on a decline for 6 consecutive quarters, down 16.4 percent on average for September and October, and 9 percent down on average in Q3.  The gains in November was broad based, with improved performance in all of the sub-indices with the strongest gain reported in the Suppliers sub-index and the weakest gain in the Residential Property Fund sub-index. Only 27 percent of the companies included in the compilation of the index reported weaker market cap values, compared to over 80 percent in October, with really just Calgro and Murray & Roberts reporting weaker market values.  PPC recorded the strongest gain, up 34% m-m, with Murray & Roberts the steepest loss, down 8.6% m-m.

The following indicators are included: Turnover, Operating Profit Margin, Attributable Income, Market Cap, Fixed Assets, Total Long term liabilities, Total Current liabilities, Return on total assets, Ratios: Fixed Assets/Turnover, Current Liabilities/Turnover, Current Liabilities/Fixed Assets.
