Cement Trade Statistics Dashboard January 2026
South Africa imported 115 274 tons of cement in January 2026, which is 37% lower than the unusually high levels recorded in January 2025. Despite the decline, imports remain above the long-term monthly average, indicating that imported cement continues to play a meaningful role in the domestic market. Most imports still originate from Vietnam, with Durban serving as the main entry point at the start of the year. South Africa also exported about 81 681 tons of cement in January, mainly to neighbouring countries, but the country still recorded a net trade deficit in cement for the month. Overall, the latest data suggests imports moderated from last year’s peak but remain structurally significant in the local market.
