Cement Trade Statistics April 2023

Cement imports declined by 47 percent y-y in April 2023, to 59 911 tons, bringing the overall annual decline to 18.3 percent for the first four months of 2023. Vietnam remains the most prominent country of origin with imports coming in at Port Elizabeth (36.8%), Durban (36.6%) and Cape Town (26.5%) during April 2023. Exports rose 4 percent y-y to 60 258 tons with exports down 13 percent y-y in the first four months of 2023.
