Building Plans Approved by Province and Type January 1994 - January 2025

The nominal value of building approvals continued on the more positive trajectory. The rate of increase accelerated in both the residential and non-residential market during January 2025, after an overall more muted recovery in December 2024.  The value of approvals rose R1bn (or 31.8 percent y-y) in January to R6.2bn, with a stellar performance in the Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal, offset by continued weakness in the housing market in Gauteng.
