PULSE - Provincial Government Actual expenditure on Buildings and other Fixed Structures as at September 2023

Actual capital expenditure by provincial governments on buildings and other fixed structures showed the strongest increase (in rand terms) in Mpumalanga where expenditure increased by R707m to R1.9bn, followed by Gauteng (up 38 percent y-y) and North West (up 36 percent). Despite a robust 31 percent y-y increase in budgetary allocations in the Western Cape (or 26 percent in real terms) actual expenditure in the Western Cape declined by 17 percent y-y (nominal) or 20 percent in real terms, during the first half of the 2023/24 financial year.....
