
The estimated value of public sector building tenders released during July 2025 increased by 36.2 percent y-y (or R344 million), supported by an increase in Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal. This follows the 20.7 percent y-y decline in June. Compared to last year, tender values are still lower by R1.2bn for the first seven months of 2025. The number of tenders however rose sharply in July, following robust declines in 2024 and the first half of 2025. The value of public sector building awards, however, slumped by 60 percent y-y (or R7bn) during the same period, with a similar decline in terms of the volume.
