Wholesale Trade Sales: Construction Materials March 2023

Wholesale trade sales of construction materials increased by 14 percent y-y in March 2023 (current prices) with an 11 percent y-y increase for the 1st quarter of 2023 to R39bn.  In real terms, this translated to a 7 percent increase for the month and a 4 percent increase for the quarter. By comparison retail sales of hardware, paint and glass slipped 5 percent y-y for the period January to March 2023.
