Project Watch List

The Project Watch List tracks high-impact construction projects and investment announcements, generally valued at more than R1 billion, although some exceptions are made if the project has a broader economic impact. It monitors new developments and updates to existing projects across key sectors, providing an early view of where future construction activity and investment are likely to be concentrated. The Project Watch List currently tracks 504 distinct projects and programmes, supported by 585 dated project updates and developments, as at 21 October 2026.

This week’s Project Watch highlighted five major projects: the R19.7bn Mokolo–Crocodile Water Augmentation Project Phase 2A remains under construction; Gautrain’s R9bn concession reached a financing milestone, with its debt package fully underwritten; Transnet’s R8.9bn Sishen–Saldanha rail restoration programme gained funding detail, including R3.4bn in BFI support and about R2.2bn in planned maintenance this year; Shree Property announced a planned investment of over R1.6bn in two South Durban logistics facilities, with construction not yet confirmed; and Durban’s proposed R1.9bn Superyacht Precinct remains an early-stage investment pipeline.
