Mining Production of Building Materials April 2023

Mining production growth of building materials slowed to an average increase of 2.4 percent in the first four months of 2023, after the 4.1 percent y-y average increase in the 4th quarter of 2022.  This compares to an overall average decline of 2.4 percent y-y in total mining production (including gold) during the same period. The total nominal sales value of building materials rose 6.9 percent y-y between January and April 2023 to just over R4bn with similar increases reported in the sales of Granite, Lime and Limestone.
