Estimated Civil Tender Values: January 2026

Tender activity in the civil industry slowed in January 2026, with 25 percent fewer tenders released compared to the same month in 2025. Other than CIDB grade 7 projects that saw a 26 percent increase, all other grades including CIDB Grade 9 tenders, declined. This had a negative impact on the estimated value of tenders released during the month, that slowed to just over R3bn. Road projects in Kwazulu Natal dominated, followed by road projects in Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape. The biggest contributors to the decline in tender values were SOE's and Local Government, against an increase within Central Government tenders.
