CRMS Dashboard January 2024
Composite CRMS index gained 11.7 percent in January 2024, compared to November 2023, supported by gains across all market segments
The composite CRMS index (including market capitalisation values of contractors, suppliers, retailers, selected residential and non-residential property funds) gained 11.7% m-m in January 2024 (compared to November 2023), following an overall loss of 14 percent in 2023 and a much weaker 4th quarter in 2023. Contractors, Suppliers and Retailers posted gains of between 3 percent and 8 percent in January 2024, with property funds up double digit rates. However, on a year on year basis, the composite index for Property Funds was 6 percent lower, with the Residential Property Fund down 15% and a 6% loss in the Non-Residential Property Fund index. The composite indices for contractors and suppliers gained more than 20 percent compared to the same month in 2023. Retailers were also lower, down 11% y-y. Only 23 percent of the companies included in the compilation of the index reported weaker market cap values in January 2024 compared to an average of 60% in 2023, with just marginal losses reported. Murray & Roberts reported the strongest gain, followed by Redefine and Resilient.
