CRMS Dashboard August 2024

The CRMS index is a composite index of listed JSE companies performance in terms of market capitalisation values, active in the South African Construction Sector.

The Composite CRMS index gained 11.8 percent m-m in August 2024, following a 1.5 percent gain in July 2024. On a year on year basis the index gained 31.1 percent.  The increase was largely supported by a 12.3 percent gain in the Contractors sub-index and a 15.6 percent gain in the Non-Residential Property Fund sub-index, with modest gain also recorded in the retailers and residential property fund sub-indices. The Supplier sub-index lost 3.2 percent m-m. The Contractors sub-index has shown the strongest gain over the last 12 months, up 78.6 percent y-y, against an overall increase of 31.1 percent.   Retailers remain under pressure given the slowdown in consumer expenditure in hardware retail sales.
