The listed construction sector continues to feel the pain of the overall economy, and has continued to diverge from a JSE index that has again reached an all-time high in August. The JSE closed on approximately 56 300 index points at the end of August, from around 55 400 at the beginning of the month. The listed construction sector certainly did not share in the good gains made by the JSE. The CRMS index (listed construction sector) was largely flat over the last month, but a sharp downturn in the supplier’s index caused the CRMS index to drop to 158.8 points, from 163.1 points at the beginning of the month.
