Construction Financial Statistics 2021Q4

According to Stats SA’s latest report on financial statistics by sector, turnover in the construction sector fell by 9.8 percent q-q in the 4th quarter of 2021 to R74.5bn, following the (revised) 3.4 percent q-q increase in Q3. Nominal turnover generated in Q4 was much weaker compared to the same period in 2020, down 12.2 percent y-y, and overall increased by a moderate nominal (unadjusted) 5 percent y-y for 2021 to R317bn. Compared to pre-covid19 levels in 2019, industry turnover failed to recover in 2021, and was still lower by 10 percent or around R37bn.
