Cement Trade Statistics Dashboard July 2025

Following a three-fold increase in June 2025, import volumes moderated to 83,510 tons in July 2025, reflecting a 33 percent year-on-year decline compared to the same month in 2024. Despite this slowdown, cumulative imports for the first seven months of 2025 remain up by 24.1 percent year-on-year, with more than 730,000 tons brought in, primarily from Vietnam, Mozambique, and Namibia.

Vietnam accounted for the majority of volumes, contributing 87 percent of total imports into South Africa up to July 2025, with shipments rising by 19 percent year-on-year. Imports from Mozambique and Namibia also recorded strong growth, up 83 percent and 46 percent respectively. While Durban continued to handle the largest share of imports, other entry points, including Cape Town, Komatipoort, Skilpadsnek, and Narogas, also experienced higher volumes during the same period. Notably, imports from Vietnam routed through Cape Town increased by 59 percent, contrasting with a 7 percent decline via Port Elizabeth.
