Capital Budgets and Actual Expenditure: Secondary Cities March 2023

Secondary cities have a cumulative R7.8bn capital budget for housing, health, planning and development, public safety, road transport, waste management, water management and wastewater management that contributes 86 percent of the total cumulative capital budget for the 2022/23 financial year. The largest capital item relates to water management with a R2.1bn capital budget for the 2022/23 financial year, followed by R1.8bn in road transport and R1.5bn towards energy sources.
