Building Plans Approved by Province and Type January 1994 - February 2025

February saw a reverse of the positive trajectory recorded in recent months, as continued growth in the non-residential market was offset by a decline in housing approvals, affecting mainly multi-unit housing developments in Gauteng and Western Cape.  Approvals for housing remains in the red over the last 12 months, with strong provincial differentation, but opportunities are presented in the non-residential market as approvals have increased by nearly 10 percent y-y.  Western Cape's housing footprint continued to expand, at the expense of Gauteng where demand remains firmly in the red.
