Building Plans Approved by Province and Type Jan 1994 - Jul 2023

The number of SQM approved for private sector building construction fell 15.8 percent y-y in July 2023, with a 6.3 percent increase in non-residential building approvals counteracted by a 20.3 percent drop in approvals for residential developments. Approvals fell by 7.2 percent y-y over the last 12 months, pulled lower by a persistent decline in the housing market.
