Total capital expenditure by metropolitan areas, related to selected infrastructure departments, decreased by 18 percent y-y (nominal not adjusted for inflation) in the 4th quarter of the 2021/22 financial year (as of June 2022) to R6.0bn. Total expenditure in the 2021/22 financial period, fell by 8.2 percent to R16.5bn. Metro’s spent 73 percent of their cumulative annual budget, compared to 76 percent in 2020/21.
