Kempton Park Tops 2024 Building Approvals as Table Bay Leads Growth Surge

Kempton Park in Ekurhuleni led the country in 2024 for private sector building approvals, with projects valued at R4.3 billion—making it the top-performing area nationally. It was followed closely by the southern and central western regions of Tshwane in second and third place, while the City of Johannesburg and Table Bay in the Western Cape took fourth and fifth positions respectively, each with building plans worth R4.1 billion approved. Notably, Table Bay recorded the highest year-on-year increase in approvals, rising by R2.4 billion compared to 2023. Significant growth was also seen in the Central West region of Tshwane and Kempton Park, where approvals rose by between R1.5 billion and R1.9 billion. Increases exceeding R1 billion were further observed in the southern parts of eThekwini and the northern parts of Cape Town.
