Pulse - Cement Imports Surge in 2025, Pressuring Local Producers as Inland Impact Grows
In April 2025, South Africa’s cement imports surged by nearly 39% year-on-year to 114,418 tons, led by Vietnam, which accounted for almost 88% of total volumes in the first four months of the year. Although Vietnam’s share declined slightly, imports from Mozambique and Namibia increased significantly—by 109% and 45% respectively—raising their combined market share to 12.1%.
