Estimated Civil Tender Values: May 2026

N4 Upgrade and MyCiTi Phase 2A Among May's Largest Civil Tender Opportunities

Civil tender activity during May 2026 remained well diversified across the country, with KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape generating the strongest pipelines. Road, water and electrical infrastructure dominated procurement activity, supported by several large strategic projects, including the N4 rehabilitation in Mpumalanga, the MyCiTi Phase 2A expansion and 132kV Gugulethu–Mitchells Plain cable project in the Western Cape, the Cornubia Boulevard extension and Thukela Gravity Pipeline in KwaZulu-Natal, and numerous water supply and road rehabilitation programmes in the Eastern Cape.

Provinces such as Limpopo and the Free State remained focused on upgrading ageing water and wastewater infrastructure, while Gauteng's pipeline was characterised by strategic transport, water and energy projects. Overall, the May pipeline suggests a healthy spread of opportunities across multiple sectors and provinces, providing encouraging medium-term workload visibility for the civil construction industry.
