While the economy tiptoes, inflationary pressures race ahead. Although public sector infrastructure allocations disappointed, the harder stance on corruption in the construction sector along with a revamp of procurement policies, may support a more effective implementation of allocations. The uptick in tender values continue to provide hope for 2022. The big question is will the private sector’s growing appetite for investment be met with an earnest approach by government to create an environment conducive for private sector investment. Anecdotal evidence suggests the tide is turning. While the commercial property market remains weak, there are pockets of growth in industrial developments.
