
According to Stats SA recent release, the Construction Labour force ended marginally lower in the 1st quarter of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. This affected around 6 000 job opportunities, with strong movements between provinces. Limpopo showed the strongest recovery since the 1st quarter of 2021, followed by Kwazulu Natal. Both Gauteng and the Western Cape recorded a contraction in their respective construction labour forces. Conditions in the informal market also seems to be outperforming the formal market where employment contracted at a faster pace.
