Investment in construction fell by 0.8 percent q-q (constant, annualised rates) in the 1st quarter of 2022 to R230.4bn (2015 prices). Residential investment fell by 1.9 percent while non-residential investment turned the tide an increased by 2.0 percent, representing 14 percent of total investment in construction. Construction works contributed 49 percent to total construction investment (largely financed by the public sector) and decreased for the 4th consecutive quarter, down 0.8 percent.
